The sun peels through my open curtains
like I would peel open your dress
it burns these eyes, so tired from sleepless nights
like I would burn your winsome flesh
The breath of spring, where I run through burgeoning trees
my hands on your calves, my breath in between
The bright world calling out ‘Where are you?’
The sun, the fragrant earth ‘Here we are awake again.’
my lips on your skin, your hands in my hair
fresh verse movement to one ecstatic being
calling ‘Summer come’, in gasps and confessional whispers
assured by the light, lingering intelligent cats
kissing one another clean
I fear your love, I fear the absence of your love
I hear your hand in every strange knock on my door
I dreamt you stood outside my window,
in shadow and terrible in shadow
and woke myself to see if you were there
